We have received a September weekend stay report from a guest of Nowhere but Hayama, a traditional Japanese house in Hayama !
This is a stay report using the autumn-only late check-out (+5,500 yen) option, which allows to stay until 5:00 p.m.
When we arrived, we immediately toasted on the porch? The gentle breeze from the ocean feels great !
When we went out to Isshiki Beach in front, it was a clear autumn day. It was the day of the spring tide, so the ebb tide was the perfect time to play on the shore! We put on snorkels and dove in, seeing many fish.
You can also cook in the kitchen or enjoy BBQ. It is also fun to buy food at the fresh fish store Uosaji in front of Zushi Station or the supermarket Suzukiya in Hayama.
Lucky for us, it was “Jugoya”, one of Japanese festivals to admire the beauty of the mid-autumn moon, and the full moon was beautifully visible from the porch.

Breakfast was a sumptuous array of dishes, including leftover dice steak from the BBQ, grilled vegetables, miso soup, and rice with baby sardines?
For lunch we went to LUKE, an Italian restaurant just 5 minutes walk away. It is a wonderful restaurant with dishes served with fresh local ingredients and a wide selection of craft gins and wines.

You can also enjoy cruising at Hayama Marina, which is located within 15 min. by bus. This time, we booked a 45-minute cruise, but the sailing was cancelled due to strong winds. We’ll try again next time !
The ocean in Hayama has calm waves and is crystal clear, making it great for diving and, of course, just looking at the view. The water clarity will increase in the coming season, and the ocean in the fall and winter will be great too!
After plenty of fun and refreshment, we headed home.
Late check-out, which allows guests to stay until 5:00 p.m., is a limited option available only in the autumn (until the end of November).
